My Vellagavi Trek: Kumbakkarai to Kodaikanal in Two Days

Quick Facts & Current Status Location / start: Start at Kumbakarai Falls reception point (Google Maps) for the Kumbakarai–Vellagavi–Kodaikanal route. Route / activity: Trek Tamil Nadu lists a tough, one-way 14 km route with a nominal 12-hour trekking duration. This post describes a two-day trip, with an overnight stay at Eagles Nest. Hours / fee / booking: The official Trek Tamil Nadu booking page currently advertises ₹2,999 + 5% GST . The package lists a permit, guide, route insurance, tented accommodation and three meals; transport to the reception point is excluded. Current status / access: Confirm dates, start time, access, water arrangements and luggage-carrying options on the booking page before departure. Checked 27 October 2026. My Brahmagiri Trek from Thirunelli, Wayanad

Quick Facts & Current Status Location / start: This is the Thirunelli route. Start at the Forest Department camp shed near Thirunelli ( Google Maps ). Route / activity: The trek is about 10 km round trip (up and down) to Brahmagiri Peak at 1,608 m; allow more than three hours for the steep climb. Hours / fee / booking: Official pages list morning starts from 07:30, last entry by 10:00, and Monday/Friday closures. The Forest Ecotourism page currently advertises ₹3,550 for five ; Kerala Tourism lists ₹2,400 for five plus ₹315 per additional person . Fees differ, so confirm the current amount and slots before booking. Current status / access: This post describes a 2023 visit. Accidental Adventures: Trekking through Muthyala Maduvu/Pearl Valley

Quick Facts & Current Status Location / start: Near Anekal, about 40 km from Bengaluru. Route / activity: Visitors can reach the permitted waterfall area. Do not continue beyond it; the farther route is not allowed. Hours / fee / booking: Current hours and fees have not been verified. Boating and Pearl Valley accommodation were available during my visit; check current availability before travelling. Current status / access: Water flow is usually low; during my visit the falls had noticeable water only when the small dam overflowed. I accidentally continued beyond the permitted area and found another dry falls area; that was a mistake, not a recommended route. Introduction Muthyala Maduvu/Pearl Valley is a popular tourist destination located just 40 km away from Bangalore(five kms from Anekal).
